I'm mostly free next week, aside from Friday when I have that interview.

[ He sips his drink as they eat, enjoying the fruit even if it's a mushy mall version. Then he excuses himself to the bathroom and waves as he heads off. Yasha is still eating her blueberry muffin as she watches Molly leave, and then turns to Fjord.

I don't have to warn you about not hurting him, I'm pretty sure you already know your body will never be found. She says softly, like she didn't just threaten him. You've seen the good days, but Molly has bad ones, too. ]

[ Somehow he forgot about expecting the shovel talk, swallowing a hunk of chicken post-threat with a nod. ]

I would never hurt him.

[ Never aim to, anyway. ]

[ I know you wouldn't willingly do so, but Molly is new to relationships so he's pretty nervous. There's a small smile in there, soft and a bit sad at the same time. He's all I have left, so I like seeing him so happy. Thank you, Fjord.

A moment later, Molly comes back, hair smoothed back with a bit of water and a smile on his face. ]

I'm going to have an hour-long shower when we come home.

[halforc]

[ As if to prove his good will to Yasha, he leans over and kisses Molly on the cheek when he returns. ]

Do you want some of my chicken?

[ CHIVALRY!! Sharing food is the height of it. ]

I'll have a bite!

[ Nobody can really resist fried chicken (unless they're Caduceus), so he takes a piece and noms on it happily. His tail curls around Fjord ankle as he eats, just enjoying sitting close to the half-orc.

Eventually the food is eaten, drinks are finished and they should probably get on the road again. Molly's busying himself with his phone for a while, and then shows cute messages from Jester, both wishing him luck on his mystery weekend and demanding to know who he's dating. ]

[ That tail around his ankle feels like the most visible touch in the world, making him blush deeply. Before they split up to get in their cars he stands behind Molly and kisses him on the cheek while taking a selfie. ]

I'll send it to Jester when I get home, let her wonder a while longer.

[ The next time he gets a chance to kiss Molly is outside his and Yasha's building as Caduceus's van is unloaded. He takes him aside, cupping Molly's cheek as a stealthy smooch is laid down while the others are carrying kit upstairs. ]

Thank you for coming this weekend, I loved every minute of having you with us.

[ He preens at knowing they'll both freak out Jester soon, and then spends the rest of the time in the car chatting non-stop to a poor tired Yasha. Once they end up at their apartment and start emptying their stuff, he's stolen for a kiss and makes that content purr-sound again when their lips meet. ]

I liked it. It was a lot of fun, and less stressful to keep in character than I thought.

[ He leans close, nose to nose and just taking a moment to be with Fjord. ]

I'd love to do it again.

In the future we'll take an airbed.

[ His smirk is dirty for all of a heartbeat before he pecks him on the lips again. ]

I'll talk to you soon, make sure you enjoy pampering yourself tonight. You deserve it.

[ Caduceus and Yasha come back downstairs to the street and a round of goodbyes are exchanged, fonder for all the nonsense of the weekend. Fjord smiles at Molly with a backward glance and that's it for the weekend, driving away feels like the end of a crazy fever dream; Caduceus drops him off home where the first thing Fjord does is take a shower and order take-out, trying to give Molly some space by not messaging ... even if he likes a bunch of old photos on instagram and onlyfans.

Jester is hilariously furious when she gets the text and photo. ]

[ Molly rides the high of being with Fjord hand having fun the whole evening, occupying the bathroom after Yasha's done to just use every product he has and relax happily. They have take-out as well, and watch Jester blow up their phone and the friend discord all night. It seems the cat is out of the bag, as Beau definitely knows now as well. That's pretty good, though. Maybe they all can hang out some day.

The week goes by so horribly slowly when he's not busy with work and other things, so he's the worst boyfriend and sends mostly useless or funny messages to Fjord at any hour of the day. He really hopes Fjord has muted his 'ding' by now.

One early morning, Fjord gets a message that just says 'It's Wednesday, right?' ]

[ When Fjord returns to a workload that has somehow doubled, even with Caduceus's help he barely has the time to send emojis back to Molly or stay awake long enough once home to have a text-conversation. When Wednesday rolls around and his phone goes off he takes a glance and pockets it for later, hurrying to his car because it's low on gas and he also has to open the shop today and, ugh. It's okay. He'll text Molly later.

And then he has to rush off his lunchbreak later to help with a booming shop of customers, so all he has time to send back is a thumbs-up. ]

[ The thumbs up is late, so thankfully Molly managed to get a hold of Jester's phone instead to steady himself. Fuck, he hates it when Yasha's working double shifts and he gets confused. There's a little heart sent in return, and he rolls over in bed to sleep more.

In the evening, he sends another message to Fjord - Saturday night for a date? ]

[ Melora has an emergency with one of her friends a town over, Nila, whose son is getting married Saturday, so Fjord offers to take home some silk flowers in an attempt to lighten their workload the next day. He has netflix playing an entire series to keep him focused on his task and only checks his phone before bed, flopping as he replies. ]

[ Molly's so excited already, perking up a lot after the shitty, confused morning he had. He gets to see Fjord again! It somehow felt like ages even if it hadn't even been a week yet - he misses that touch, those lips, just the closeness of him like a missing limb.

That probably made him a clingy bastard, but he already told Fjord he was high maintenance. Hopefully it wasn't too bad.

(How is he still nervous?) ]

[ He shoots off his address, texting him kisses with an apology for how tired he's been lately, then falls asleep with his phone in his hand.

The next few days pass in a blur of activity as Nila, Melora's friend, needs emergency flowers on a bulk order; those she bought elsewhere for her son's wedding are awful and wilting, so Wildmother's briefly becomes a flurry of blooms and petals as Caduceus and Melora focus on the wedding order while Fjord frantically deals with everything else, making up bouquets all morning and delivering them all afternoon, a rinse-repeat until Saturday at five o'clock when Caduceus notices a whole box of wreaths was left off the delivery (for the pews in the church, what's worse). Melora is already with Nila for the ceremony in the morning and Caduceus has a family night planned, so Fjord hedges his bets and agrees to drive to the next town.

Caduceus agrees to message Molly about Fjord getting roped into extra work, what with Fjord's phone having died while he ignored it and focused on work, and that seems like the end of it. If Fjord is a little late tonight then Molly will forgive him, he's sure, the tiefling can just set off at a later time so he isn't stood outside.

Fjord is looking forward to seeing him so much.

Caduceus does text Molly: Fjord can't make it. And, because he is Caduceus, he then forgets his phone exists in the hubbub of the Clay family household. Fjord's trip is diverted around roadworks that add an extra hour either way, which is ... typical. Then, once he delivers the flowers and Nila gives him a big hug, he has to drive back in the pelting rain as a storm hits and his failing gas tank gives out, stranding him on the edge of town. He walks twenty minutes to the nearest petrol station, then all the way back, and is sneezing something fierce by the time he pulls up outside his apartment building.

It's around eleven at night, the chilly night air lashing him with rain as if he hasn't had enough slaps in the face today despite his good deed. ]

[ Fjord can't make it. It hurts, and he's terribly disappointed, dressed and ready to go at any moment. It would have been the end of it, though, but what fucks him up is that he doesn't get an answer to if Fjord's okay or not, and any messages he sends his boyfriend are either ignored or does not come through.

Unsure of what to do (and stressing himself up wonderfully), he finally decides to go to Fjord's place anyway and see if he's okay. Maybe that was overstepping it, but it was really weird to not hear anything else. (Did he decide he didn't want to see him? Had he been too clingy after all?)

The bus trip takes half-an-hour or so, and he manages to get off at the right place. Walking down a block, he finds the right address and tries to step inside, only to realize it's locked for tenants only. Sighing, Molly sits down on the stairs to wait and see if the half-orc is even going to come home from work.

Once it gets dark and starts raining, he realizes he's an idiot for just sitting here in his nice outfit, with his nicely-wrapped present (bringing flowers would be kind of redundant) and just... hoping. The rain is coming down really hard, though, so now he's rather trapped at the porch.

That is how Fjord finds a purple tiefling at eleven at night, wet and curled up on the apartment stairs. ]

...you're okay?

[halforc]

[ He almost jumps out of his skin halfway up the porch steps, dark-vision turning the sight of a bedraggled tiefling into something spooky for a split-second. ]

Molly? What the fuck are you doing here? Didn't you get Caduceus's text?

[ Hurrying up to meet him, Fjord takes him by the arms to rub some warmth back into him. ]

Have you been sat here all night?

[ Molly was cold enough to be down at actual human temperature as Fjord starts rubbing him, and the tiefling is a little stunned for a moment. ]

He said you couldn't make it. I couldn't get anything answered after that, not from him or you, no confirmation that you were okay... and I was worried. I decided to check up on you but... fuck.

[ He's wet and cold and looks about as shitty as Fjord right now, so they've had terribly evenings, both of them. ]

I stayed for a while, and then a bit longer, and then I was fucking caught in the storm.

[halforc]

You silly ... darling thing.

[ What a night. What a boyfriend he has. It's very sweet but also a little worrying, finding Molly planted on his stoop like a dog that doesn't know what to do without its master. Fjord needs to address that at some point. ]

Come inside, you're freezing. [ He puts his arm around him, finding his key with his free hand to get them indoors. ] I'll tell you all about it once we're dry.

[ In the elevator he wraps his arms around Molly and keeps rubbing his back and arms, squeezing the damp out of his lank hair. Fussing is all he can do at the sight of him, wanting him safe and sound in the warmth of his apartment. ]

[ He leans to Fjord, tired and relieved that the man is alright. He's starting to realize how fucking insane he looks, though, and that's... not great. Molly's fairly quiet as they get inside and take the elevator, smiling a little as Fjord fusses over him like that. ]

I'm alright, love. Nothing a bit of central heating or radiators can't fix.

[ He reaches to run a hand over Fjord's cheek. ]

...you've had a day, too, haven't you?

Yes, but ... I don't like that I was the cause of your day being shit. Mine was a mess because of work, that's all. And roadway diversions. And ... petrol.

[ A lot has been going on. Indoors, he takes him by the hand and leads him through the small apartment (homely, plants and nice decor, bit barren) into his bedroom where Fjord's personality seems to have rooted; it's dark blue with fishery netting somewhat artfully hung in a corner, shells and bottled ships on shelves, a wholeass (fake) anchor in another corner ...

He rifles through a darkwood chest-of-drawers to find Molly some sweatpants and a long-sleeved top. ]

Let's get you out of those soaked clothes and dry, hmm? Are these okay?

[devilstongue]

No, no. That... was all my own idiotic doing.

[ The first time he's in Fjord's home, and this is how badly it goes. Molly sighs, just letting the half-orc lead him through the nice apartment, tail dragging a bit.

He doesn't quite have time to take in how nice Fjord's bedroom is, because he's handed clothes. Nodding, the tiefling starts peeling off his wet shirt to replace it with the top. It's pretty big on him and gives that 'boyfriend shirt' vibe, which honestly makes things a little better. ]

If I weren't afraid you'll catch your death of cold I'd be touched. Maybe in a bit.

[ Fjord's clothes hit the floor with a heavy splat, having walked in the rain to find petrol and sat in a soggy puddle in his car all the way home. He hauls on some sweats and a clean tshirt, the novelty of being naked (however briefly) around Molly overshadowed by the way they're both shivering, and drags down the thick duvet on his bed with a pat to let Molly know where to park himself. ]

Hop in and warm up, I'll grab some towels for our hair.

[ A kiss is given as he passes by, Fjord's smile meeting Molly's lips through it. ]

[ Molly is quiet as he hops into the sweatpants as well, shoving his tail into one leg and managing to keep them on that way (even if the waist still hung down a bit on the other side). He slinks into the bed, curling up in the duvet and trying to not drip water from his hair on the sheets.

The scent of rain is replaced by the scent of Fjord, which is soothing to his everything right now. He still can't let go of the fact that he's definitely fucked up, though, or that the first time in Fjord's bed is also awkward. ]

I'll be right back!

[ He heads downstairs to find something hot to shove in the oven, since he isn't sure Molly's eaten anything since this afternoon and Fjord is also ravenous; a cheap pizza will do. Heating turned on before he forgets and taking two beers back upstairs, he roots out two towels and drapes one around his shoulders as he rejoins Molly. ]

Hey ... [ It's not the way he wanted tonight to go, but. Never mind. ] Here's a towel for your hair, I got you a drink too. Dinner's in, it's simple but should heat us up.

[ Sitting next to him, he feeds an arm behind Molly to rub his back. There's a quietness to him that's worrying and not in a "I hate being wet" way. ]

Are you feeling alright, Molly?

[ Molly is a little relieved to see the towel, taking it and wrapping his hair up. The hand on his back tells him he hasn't fully fucked things up, but he still feels awkward, and in the middle of it all he's a little angry, too.

He leans a little to Fjord, trying to both leech and share heat at the same time. His skin was about the half-orc's own temperature, so cuddling was probably a good idea. It was lucky it was the middle of summer, at least. ]

I'm sorry. I swear I'm not actually insane. Well. Not in this way.

[ There's a slightly tired chuckle as he takes the beer and drinks some. ]
