[It was a shame, how Noct kept disappearing on them. It made things pretty hard when usually he was the one holding their party together.]
Well, so uh, Noct is my BFF. He was my first friend, actually. We went to grade school together, and I wanted to be his friend, but, uh... I didn't get up the nerve to say 'hi' to him until high school. [And, realizing their worlds probably have different school systems.] I was 15 by then.
[Years, Molly. It took him years to say 'hello' to someone. He kind of sucked at this socialization thing.]
[And it was nice to remember sometimes that he did have friends. But there was a more important reason he was admitting to it.]
So, I uh... I'm not like, umm... Sure exactly what to say? Like, I tried to go up to a girl once and ask her where she got her ice-cream, and she kinda looked at me funny and just sorta pointed and then her friend came over, or girlfriend, I dunno, but there were two of them so I was like, "Okay, thanks." I, uh, wasn't really sure where else to go with that.
Hm. Sounds like she wanted to make you aware that she had a girlfriend so you wouldn't hit on her. Maybe she had bad experiences in the past, who knows? Technically she answered your question, though.
[ Prompto kind of looks like innocence itself, so he's fairly sure she didn't see him as a predator. Then again, Molly was not the best person at socializing. That's why he defaulted to just blind people with Mollymauk. ]
It's all very situational, too. Maybe she just didn't want to talk, just like any guy might not want to talk right then. Doesn't have much to do with gender but with everything else.
Depends on the circumstances, my friend. Let's say a tavern? I'd nod at her first to get her attention and see if she's interested in a chat at all. A nod back or a smile is usually a good tell.
[ He has to take down his usual flair a bit to make this more usable for Prom rather than just sliding in from the side and asking if they want their fortune read. ]
Then I'd just walk up to her, say hi, tell my name, ask hers, ask if she's a regular around here and just find a topic that interests us both. Same as anyone else I'd chat with.
Oh man, a tavern? That sounds so old-timey. Sometimes other worlds sound like they're straight out of a comic book.
That... doesn't sound so hard. [Okay, maybe he wouldn't be able to meet someone's eyes well enough to do a lot of signaling with facial expressions, but he could probably say 'hi' and remember his name. Now just watch him try it with Beau.] Oh, that reminds me! I met a girl on Mu that looked kinda like you, and she knew who you were. Did you see her?
[And maybe a little unintentionally racist. He'd only seen two people of Molly's race, so they had a lot of similarities to him.]
[ He's still not sure about this timeline/other world thing. A tavern was a tavern, right?
...oh, Molly's definitely gonna enjoy putting Beau and Prom together. Stirring some wank in this boring place just seemed like a great idea, and would teach the guy some stuff about women.
The mention of Jester has him smiling on the other side of the stone, however, and his voice goes a little softer. ]
Yeah. I saw her, too. She's a wonderful woman, and I've missed her.
[ A little racist, but not impossible. (Unlike Nott's idea that all firbolgs had to know each other.) ]

I'll try. [He didn't sound very confident in that, but he wasn't going to press.]

Molly, did you ever get to meet Noct? I don't remember if he was still around when you showed up.

You really are a shy one, aren't you? Nothing wrong with that, though. Glad you got some friends.
